Luke, on the other hand, viciously attacked Vader with his lightsaber when Vader threatened to turn Leia to the dark side. The difference between Luke and Anakin is that, whereas Luke recognized his anger getting the better of him and prevented himself from doing anything too drastic, Anakin embraced his rage and ended up bringing down the entire Jedi Order with extreme prejudice.

Luke, on the other hand, has a biological father. Emotional attachments are forbidden in the Jedi Order. Both Anakin and Luke began their Jedi training much later than most younglings. But Anakin still began his training a lot earlier than Luke. However, he eventually lets the Emperor get in his head. Like his father, Luke allows himself to be tempted by the dark side, and like his father, the one doing the tempting is Emperor Palpatine.

Although Anakin and Luke were both tempted by the dark side, the latter never actually switched sides and became a Sith Lord. He saw the damage it did to his father, that all-consuming desire to save the ones he loved.
