What makes you victorious
They were believers who loved the Lord and wanted to obey Him. This is the beginning place for growth, and it is the foundation upon which these other provisions rest. The preacher with love and concern for the spiritual well-being of the flock faithfully teaches the great truths of the Bible. Acts —33 serves as a good example of this kind of praying. When we pray together and ask God to work, and when we see God answer specific prayers, we grow in our walk with Him. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth. For you say, I am rich, I have prospered, and I need nothing, not realizing that you are wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see.
I am coming soon. Hold fast what you have, so that no one may seize your crown. The one who conquers, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God. Never shall he go out of it, and I will write on him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down from my God out of heaven, and my own new name. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
A Psalm. Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. And he called the twelve and began to send them out two by two, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits. The Song of Songs, which is Solomon's. Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth!
For your love is better than wine; your anointing oils are fragrant; your name is oil poured out; therefore virgins love you. Draw me after you; let us run. The king has brought me into his chambers. We will exult and rejoice in you; we will extol your love more than wine; rightly do they love you. I am very dark, but lovely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.
So speak and so act as those who are to be judged under the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. You are severed from Christ, you who would be justified by the law; you have fallen away from grace.
For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds. We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ, being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is complete. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.
Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.
Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. The truly victorious Christian life must then be characterized by other things. What might they be? And faithfulness in a host of regular, everyday things. The victorious Christian is a faithful husband. A faithful mother. A faithful employee.
A faithful church members. Living in victory means living out with joy the responsibilities God has given to us, no matter how big or small they appear to be in a given moment. Being victorious begins with a decision and is achieved through a daily commitment to line up your life decisions with actions that have the ability to move you toward your goal.
It takes a daily commitment to push through your emotions, fleshly desires, and yes, even physical and emotional pain. They were opportunities to learn lessons that could move me one step closer to my goal.
By remaining teachable, you will be able to learn from your mistakes and avoid future mishaps by moving forward differently. Dwelling on the former things, whether good or bad, can cause a delay in victory. Focusing on good things can cause you to settle in and become content and complacent. Focusing on bad things can lead to discouragement and defeat.
The past is the past. There is nothing you or I can ever do about our past except move forward and make better decisions in the future. Do what you can do. There was nothing I could do about the actions of others. So why worry about them? By focusing on giving percent of effort towards my own goal, I was always free of regrets.
Once I hit the target I was aiming for, I set my sights on a new one. This constant chasing after new goals kept me moving forward and prevented me from becoming stagnant.
In the slalom event, I mastered the art of rounding obstacles instead of focusing on them. The slalom course is comprised of six buoys that the skier must successfully round. Early in my career, my parents taught me to gaze diagonally through the course instead of focusing on the upcoming buoys.
If a skier wants to continue to move successfully through the course, he must refrain from looking at the buoys. In life, we face obstacles too. They can appear in many forms—relational, financial, physical, emotional, or spiritual. The key to success, just as in slalom skiing, is to avoid focusing on the obstacles.
As a skier, the only way I could accomplish great feats on the water was by tapping into the incredible power source of the boat. Without it, I was going nowhere! Similarly, the only way to accomplish great things in life—things with eternal value—is by choosing to be connected to God, the ultimate power source. He will never fail you. He will help you become victorious. After decades of skiing in world championships, Kristi wanted to use her platform to serve God. In , she founded Victorious Living magazine to be a voice of hope to those who are hopeless.
